ShreeNiketan Child Care Foundation supports children of sugarcane worker families whose education is affected by migration and hardship.
Children of sugarcane worker families often lose their learning rhythm when seasonal work moves them away from school. Many want to study, but changing places, family pressure, and lack of guidance make regular education difficult to continue.
Children and families connected with sugarcane labour often face daily struggles around food, hygiene, clothing, and basic comfort. When these needs remain difficult to manage, a child’s health, confidence, and learning are affected deeply.
Elderly people and struggling families in labour connected communities often live with quiet hardship. Many depend on others for basic care, while families already carrying financial pressure find it difficult to provide comfort, dignity, and support.
Children of sugarcane workers live with a moving routine, where every season can take them away from school, books, teachers, and familiar learning spaces. Many children want to study, yet their family condition makes regular education difficult to continue.
For children and families connected with sugarcane labour, daily life is often shaped by hard work, movement, and limited access to basic comfort. When a family is struggling to manage food, hygiene, clothing, and simple care, a child’s education and wellbeing are affected first.
Elderly people and struggling families in labour connected communities often live with quiet hardship that stays hidden behind daily survival. Many older people depend on others for basic care. yet families already carrying financial pressure may find it difficult to manage every need with comfort.
Our journey began in 2012 with a simple but deeply important objective: to provide education to the children of sugarcane workers. Over the years, we have witnessed how seasonal migration, financial pressure, and unstable living conditions affect a child's ability to continue learning. Many children begin their education with enthusiasm and dreams, yet circumstances beyond their control often pull them away from classrooms, teachers, and the routine that learning requires. A child may change locations several times in a year, making continuity in education difficult and creating gaps that affect confidence, growth, and future opportunities. At ShreeNiketan Child Care Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the chance to learn regardless of family circumstances. Our work is rooted in understanding the realities faced by sugarcane worker families and responding with care, patience, and practical support. We strive to create opportunities where children can continue their studies, receive guidance, and grow in an environment that encourages learning and personal development. Education remains at the heart of our efforts because it provides children with knowledge, confidence, self respect, and hope for a stronger future. Alongside educational support, we also recognise the challenges faced by families and elderly individuals living within labour connected communities. Daily responsibilities often leave limited resources for learning support, wellbeing, and personal growth.
ShreeNiketan Child Care Foundation supports people through care that is simple, needed, and rooted in everyday life. The aim is to make education reachable for children, basic needs manageable for families, and dignity possible for those who feel left behind. Each step is guided by ground reality rather than empty promises.
